Sketching is often confused with drawing. A sketch is a quick executed freehand pencil or chacole drawing that is not intended as a finished work. Each artists may have their own specific way to sketch and prepare for a painting or simply to work out ideas for new works of art. Sketches a not limited to pencil or charcoal, often ink, pastals or watercolour is used.
